Deciding whether to bid or no bid on a
sales opportunity can be critical to the
success of a team, which means that
developing a consistent approach to
bidding decisions significantly
increases the team's effectiveness. By
using the templates available in
Microsoft Office, one can help his team
to develop a solid understanding of the
bid/no bid process and pursue the
opportunities that have the best chance
of yielding a successful deal.
We are introducing,
Defense
Logistic Agency Bidding System
(DLABS),
a fully dynamic military solicitation
analysis system. This is a closed loop
system that follows a solicitation from
the analysis of pricing structures, to
the government agency award, to order
and fulfillment.
The first part of DLABS starts with the
analysis of pricing structures based on
your internal item
data (list price, standard cost, lead
time, inventory, description, etc),
competitor pricing (if available),
government procurement history and
approved manufacturers from the website
of your choice, and finally your own
bidding history so that you may adjust
your bids based on past and current
performance. The best part of DLABS is that it is fully automated and
summarized on a single screen that
allows you to quickly and easily adjust
bids based on margins, discounts, costs,
and more so that you may realize the
most profit possible by calculating a
best-case-scenario bid price. Or,
if you do not currently offer an item
that the government is soliciting then
it will automatically calculate a target
standard cost based on the margin you
would like to realize.
DLABS allows you to make notes for each
solicited item and store the item in the
database. In the case you would
like to view a history of your actions
for a given NSN, you can quickly view
just those historical records that
pertain to that NSN. It also
allows you to create custom reports and
metrics from the historical data to
analyze and drive future bids, or you
can create canned reports with a click
of a button.
